As another busy and rewarding term draws to a close, we reflect on several wonderful events that have showcased the talent, dedication, and enthusiasm of our students.
Music Department News
Mornington Peninsula Choral Festival
On 3 June, both our Primary and Secondary Choirs participated in the Mornington Peninsula Choral Festival. It was wonderful to see so many students involved, including many new choir members who embraced the opportunity to perform.
It was also a pleasure to see the Secondary Choir from our Tyabb Campus perform, highlighting the strength of choral music across the College community.
GIG Night (Give It A Go)
We concluded this term with our newly branded GIG Night (Give It A Go). This event was designed to provide students with a supportive performance environment and encourage them to take the next step in their musical journey.
It was fantastic to see so many students take to the stage and share their talents with family, friends, and peers. We understand that performing in front of an audience can be a daunting experience, particularly for those new to public performance, so we are incredibly proud of every student who participated. The evening was a wonderful celebration of student achievement and musical progress.
Looking Ahead to Term 3
Term 3 promises to be another exciting and event-filled term for our Music Department. Our Concert Band, Strings Orchestra, and Choir will be participating in the Victorian School Music Festival (VSMF) throughout the term. After unfortunately missing this opportunity last year, we are looking forward to returning to the festival and providing our students with valuable performance and feedback experiences.
We are also excited to showcase the talents of our senior students at the VCE Arts Showcase at The Cube in Frankston and to round out the term with a new event on our calendar, Cabaret Night.
We thank our students, staff, instrumental music teachers, and families for their ongoing support of the Music Department and look forward to sharing more musical successes throughout Term 3.

Performing Arts
Charlie & The Chocolate Factory
Our school production of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, performed on 27 May, was an outstanding success. Students delivered exceptional performances both on and off the stage, bringing this beloved story to life with energy, creativity, and professionalism.
This production was particularly special as we farewelled 13 incredibly talented Year 12 students who have made a significant contribution to our performing arts program throughout their time at the College. We thank them for their dedication and wish them every success in their future endeavours.
A standout feature of this year's production was the live orchestra, whose musicians provided a rich and dynamic accompaniment that elevated the entire performance. The feedback received from audiences has been overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting that our productions continue to go from strength to strength each year.
Congratulations and thank you to every student, staff member, volunteer, and family member who contributed to making this production such a memorable success.
Wakakirri 2026
Led by three exceptionally talented Year 12 students, our Wakakirri team has been busy behind the scenes preparing for this year’s performance. With rehearsals about to commence, excitement is growing among students and staff alike.
Wakakirri is Australia’s largest performing arts event for schools, providing students with the opportunity to tell meaningful stories through a unique combination of dance, drama, creative movement and music. Established in 1992, the festival engages thousands of students across the country each year and encourages young people to explore important themes while developing confidence, teamwork, creativity and self-expression. Wakakirri’s motto, “Great Stories Inspire Change,” reflects its focus on empowering students to share stories that make a positive impact.
This year’s national theme, “Guardians of Us,” celebrates the people who protect, support and uplift others in their communities. It encourages students to explore themes of empathy, courage, inclusion and kindness through their performances.
We are proud to announce that our students will perform at the Frankston Arts Centre on Friday 14 August as part of the Victorian Wakakirri season. Families and friends are warmly encouraged to come along and support our students on the night. Tickets will go on sale next week and can be purchased via https://www.wakakirri.com/tickets
We encourage families to secure tickets early, as Wakakirri performances are often very popular and can sell out. We wish all our Wakakirri students the very best and we look forward to sharing their hard work with our school community.

Visual Arts
The Visual Arts Department has been a hive of activity, with students enjoying fun times in the art room as they prepared props for the Charlie & The Chocolate Factory production. There is also plenty of excitement building as we look ahead to creating items for Seussical Kids, with students ready to bring fresh ideas, energy and creativity to the production.
