In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields.
Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. John 15:13 Lest we forget.

Exams
Exams
We are about to enter exam season, particularly for Years 9-11. Make sure you get a copy of your child’s exam timetable! Revision is always hard work and tedious for students, but parents can help in three important ways:
* Help your child to focus and concentrate - encourage them to study in a quiet space, free of distractions such as phones and TVs. * Help your child to rest and relax – encourage them to rest, eat and exercise sensibly and make sure they get a good amount of sleep. * Help your child with the discipline of study – encourage them to set definite study times, check in on them and ensure they stick at it. * Help your child study actively – encourage them to make study summaries and attempt practice exam papers: an idea used is an idea remembered.
School Hats
Thanks to parents for their support in ensuring that every one of our students has a hat and encouraging them to wear it when outside at College during Terms One and Four.
Important Dates
Student Free Day
Please note that on Friday 22nd November is a student free day.
The Good Life
Family Fun
Why not pick one day of the week and officially make it "Family Night". Each member of the family could take turns in organising an activity for the whole family to participate in. Here are some activity ideas below ............ Enjoy
1. Take a walk after dinner and discuss what happened during everyone's day. You could walk to a local park, the beach, along a pier or just around the block. This is a great healthy activity.
2. If the weather isn't so great you could play cards, a board game or you could organise a trivia night with family orientated questions.
3. You might decide on an official "take away food" night like Friday Fish and Chips. You might dine at the local foreshore or park to make it interesting.
4. Create a family garden. This could be a herb garden, vegetable garden, a memorial garden to someone special who has passed or just a happy bright floral garden. It can be a family activity to maintain the garden.
5. Ten Pin Bowling is a great family activity and it gives you all time to have a chat about things that are going on in your lives.
6. Family cooking night. Get the whole family together to prepare and cook dinner.
These activities will bring the whole family closer together and are guaranteed to bring laughter and great memories for all involved.
Confidence Boost
Amazing progress of a year 8 student’s confidence. Last week at assembly two year 8 boys promoted the Learn to Sail day at Flinders based on their experience with the program. One student was reluctant to publicly present in front of the whole secondary school. However, with the gentle guidance and support of his peer Gabriel K, Xavier G confidently shared his perspective with the audience and in doing so increased his confidence. He moved out of his comfort zone and successfully achieved something he originally thought was beyond his capabilities. This is a wonderful example of positive peer influence😊. Well done to both Gabriele and Xavier!
