Musical Productions at Carrum Downs
At each Campus, students have the opportunity to audition for parts in the various school musicals. Singing, dancing and acting as well as the technical aspects of the show employ the talents of many. Some of our recent productions at Carrum Downs campus have included Legally Blonde Junior, Oliver!, The Wiz, Seussical the Musical, Grease and Singing in the Rain.

Cinderella – 2017
Our 2017 school production was Cinderella. Created by Rogers and Hammerstein who wrote some of the most iconic musicals of all time, this show was a magical trip into a world of princes and princesses, royal balls, adventure, godmothers with special powers, glass slippers, and maybe even a happy ending.
Legally Blonde – 2016
Flinders Carrum Downs presented “Legally Blonde Junior” for our secondary production in 2016. The story revolves around Elle Woods, who appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside-down, however, when her boyfriend dumps her so he can start getting serious about his life and attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle uses her charm to get into Harvard Law. At school, she struggles with peers, professors, and her ex-boyfriend who don’t take her seriously. With the help of friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.
Oliver – 2015
2015 was the year of Oliver! Based on the novel by Charles Dickens, Oliver! is about an orphan boy who finds himself in the bustling streets of London after being sold to an undertaker from a tyrannical Beadle named Mr Bumble, only to find himself in the wrong crowd when he befriends the Artful Dodger, an expert pick pocket, and his elderly mentor, Fagin, leading to an array of zany adventures along the way. This timeless classic features memorable characters such as the lovable Nancy, the brutal Bill Sikes and of course Oliver Twist himself, while also including epic showtunes such as ‘Consider Yourself’, ‘I’d do anything!’, ‘Pick a Pocket or Two’ and ‘As long as he needs me’.
This show captured the hearts of all of the cast and crew and we commend Zac Krause who received a Lyrebird nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the Artful Dodger. The show took place at Drum Theatre from the 3 September to 5 September, and we performed to near sold audiences every show.
