At each Campus students have the opportunity to audition for parts in the various school musicals produced each alternate year. Singing, dancing and acting as well as the technical aspects of the show employ the talents of many.
In 2007 the Carrum Downs Campus produced the stage adaptation of one of the most celebrated and loved films of all times; “Singin' In The Rain”.
The cast included an array of students from Grade 1 to Year 11, who, together with various staff members, displayed their exceptional singing, dancing and acting talents.
It was a united College effort as students from the Tyabb campus helped boost the orchestral qualities, providing a wonderful big band sound.
An army of 30 back stage and support crew made sure the cast were primed and positioned, ready to perform.
The highlight of the production was the cameo performance of the Grade 1 students. With their yellow raincoats, brightly coloured umbrellas and an exuberance to match, they entertained the audience as they splashed their way through the title song of the play.
It was a marvellous collaboration of skills, talent and a commitment to make this another successful experience for our College community.
This year Flinders College Tyabb performed the Australian Premiere of the stage version of Disney's “High School Musical”! The show attracted full houses and a standing ovation on closing night.
The agents for DISNEY came and saw opening night and here is an extract from their response.
To Flinders Christian Community College - Drama Faculty, Friday 27th April 2007
Dear Steve & Jenny,
Just a quick email to congratulate you, your cast and crew on a most wonderful performance last night: the Premiere Performance of Disney’s High School Musical!
The cast and crew obviously worked extremely hard to bring forward the presentation last night. This was evident in every aspect. The costumes were original and very suitable. The sets were creatively versatile also.
The student performances were, of course, the main highlight. There are many fantastic singers and dances amongst the group! The co-ordination and choreography of the basketball team was impressive also! Well done to all!
It was wonderful to see such passion and conviction. Each and every person on stage, large role or small, seemed to have the time of their life! Actually, the audience included!
The energy and team-work was clearly evident. This is obviously a huge tribute to the school community as a whole.
Please pass on our best wishes to all your cast and crew for the remainder of the season!
With warm regards,
Hal Leonard
