Flinders Christian Community College Latrobe City Campus is offering Scholarships for entry to Year 11 in 2015.
We have had a fantastic start to the year with lots of different events occurring.
Due to parent feedback, we have decided to move away from the web based newsletter. Our newsletter will be emailed home to all families twice a term and a hard copy will be available from the College office.
Flinders is devastated by the sudden and untimely death of one of our Tyabb Junior School students.
Our school community is in shock and struggling to come to terms with these tragic circumstances. We heard about the incident last night and have put plans in place to support our community.
There is always excitement and enthusiasm for students and parents when school begins. At the Tyabb campus we are looking forward to meeting our new students and seeing our returning students once again and as the year begins, we would like to highlight for all parents, some of the traffic safety considerations at our campus.
At the end of 2013, a letter was posted to all Carrum Downs families with regard to the School Bus Service, which is to commence operation in 2014. We have included a copy of the letter (including route maps and booking form) below for your reference. If you would like to utilise this service, please fill out the Booking Form and return it to the Carrum Downs Office as soon as possible.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the year and to all the families who supported the P & F with the various fundraisers and school community activities. We have all achieved some great results which go a long way towards benefiting our children’s learning environment.

One of the major concerns for parents nowadays centres on their child’s use of the internet and mobile phones. It’s easy to get caught up in the cyber safety and cyber security space and concentrate merely on those issues involving technology. The reality is, however, that the influences on children and young people come from all different areas and we need to take a holistic approach to their safety and wellbeing. Often, cyberbullying and sexting are the most visible of a range of issues as they leave behind some digital trace, but they may coexist with other crucial concerns. In our second-last issue of the year, we’re going to look at some of the other influences on children and young people.
The 30 year History of Flinders is captured in the book ‘Born to Bear Fruit’ written by former staff member and now Principal of Lighthouse Christian College, Mrs Avril Howard. In the forward of this book, Peter Reith Hon Member for Flinders in 1983 wrote:
The future for Flinders Christian Community College is bright. Its history records a guiding hand in all its works. The glimpses of the toil, effort, dedication and inspiration of so many, which are evident in this history of the early life of Flinders Christian Community College, will add a rich tapestry to the future life of the college….
The summer break is a wonderful time of relaxation and recuperation, but also a time to get to some of those odd jobs that get put off all year. For your computer and online self, the holidays are a good time to get to some of those little jobs as well. Our final Cyberlife article for the year hits on 5 tasks that your ‘digital self’ may thank you for attending to.
