As we near the end of Term 1, assessments are starting to appear in your child’s report. Most notably you are now able to view the Observation ratings for all core subjects. These are shown as gold colored bars on the report screen.
The Observations are an indication from each teacher as to how your child is functioning in each class, or in a specific aspect of their schooling life.
Secondary students will have Observation ratings for each subject they are undertaking. Elective subjects may not yet have these assessments filled in, depending on how much contact time the student has had with their teacher so far this term.
Primary students will have a range of observation ratings visible, depending on their year level:
* Lower Primary students will have a Transition Observation bar, as well as one for Early Years and Specialist subjects
* Upper Primary will have Observations for Learning Habits, Core subjects and Specialist subjects.
NB: For Prep students, only Transition assessments are completed in Term 1.
The Observations hold a great deal of information behind the colored bar. Click on any Observation rating, and a rubric will pop up showing a range of statements that summarise your child’s progress at this time. The Observations are subject to change, so check in on them again later in the term. The notifications feature will assist you with this.
For help on using the Observations, click on the Help icon when viewing one of the Observation-related screens.
If you have queries regarding the Observations, please speak to your child’s classroom/subject teacher, or contact the Head of Teaching and Learning for your child’s subschool.
