On Thursday 2nd August, sixteen students from Flinders in Years 5 – 8 performed a German poem in the Regional Poetry Competition at Carrum Primary School. We were thrilled to win three divisions: Year5, Year 6 and Year 7. The winning students, Alannah, Jorden and Sophie now proceed to the State Final at the Austrian Club in Heidelberg.

Everyone was a bit nervous about performing, but we all did a good job. It was a great experience, as we got to see that many other schools are studying German as well. The competition was fierce because everyone offered their best performance.

Comments on the day:

Kasey – ”It was a really fun day and we met new people.”

Maddy: “It was exciting when we got to hear and perform the poem.”

Jorden: “I loved meeting new people and performing the poem.”

Stephen: “It was exciting, but I was very nervous when it was my turn to perform.”

Overall everyone had a good time. No one regretted the experience and we all had fun. To the people going to the State Final: “Alles Gute und viel Erfolg!” – All the best and we wish you success!
