How do I find my child’s report or timetable in ourFlinders?

After you have logged into ourFlinders, click the picture of your campus. This is your campus home page. Look in the top right-hand corner of the campus home page for a picture of your child (or children).

What has happened to info.Flinders?

The old site called “info.Flinders” (info.flinders.vic.edu.au) was used as a public repository for documents like Handbooks, User Guides and Course Selection forms. Improvements in ourFlinders (Moodle) and the public website (this site) have made info.Flinders redundant, and it was taken offline as of 8 May 2013.

How do I find my way around ourFlinders?

ourFlinders is divided into sections, one for each campus. After you log in (unless logging in for the first time), you should see the ourFlinders “Front” page. It contains large icons, one for each campus. Select the campus where your children attend. If ever you get “lost” in Moodle, click the House icon near the top-left corner of the page, and this will take you back to the Front page.

What is a Moodle “Course”?

A Moodle course is a page of information relating to one subject or topic. The majority of courses in ourFlinders relate to a particular subject taught to a specific class. There are some courses that are available for general viewing, such as pages of notices, or information about instrumental music or sport. With the exception of these general viewing courses, students can only access courses for subjects in which they are enrolled. Similarly, parents can only access courses in which their children are enrolled.

I’ve logged into ourFlinders for the first time. Now what?

The very first time you log into ourFlinders (Moodle) you can expect to be prompted for a new password. This is because your initial password is intended to be temporary. Enter your current (temporary) password into the Current password space, then enter your new password in the New password and New Password (again) spaces.

What is my ourFlinders Username?

Your username for ourFlinders (Moodle) is the email address you provided to the college. When entering your email address, take particular care to enter it correctly. An amazing number of log-in failures are due to typos when entering a username or password!

How do I log into PTO?

Parent Teacher Online (PTO) is a system we use to manage bookings for Parent-Teacher-Student (PTS) interviews throughout the year. Parents receive their PTO details a couple of weeks before PTS interviews are due to be held, and PTO generally opens for bookings about a week before the interviews are held.

Moodle doesn’t work on my Child’s Home Computer. What should I do?

While most web browsers will be sufficient for parents to view the Reporting Portal, your child might experience technical difficulty when uploading assignments or viewing resources if they use an old web browser. Some features of the new version of Moodle (the software we use to run ourFlinders) require a modern web browser.

Can I message teachers using ourFlinders (Moodle)?

Yes! There are several ways you can reach the messaging screen, but perhaps the quickest is to use your child’s timetable.

To contact a teacher urgently, or to contact another member of staff (such as a Year level coordinator), it is recommended that you contact your campus by phone, requesting that the staff member contact you at the earliest opportunity.

I know my password, but I’d like to change it. Can I do this?

Yes you can! First, log into ourFlinders (Moodle) using your username and current password. After you have logged in, look for your name in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Click your name. You should see your “profile”.

I’ve forgotten my ourFlinders password. How do I get a new one?

If you have forgotten your password, it is easy for you to reset it yourself. You’ll need to go to the ourFlinders (Moodle) login screen:  http://our.flinders.vic.edu.au/login/

I keep getting an error message about “cookies”. What does this mean?

The short answer is: you need to set your web browser to allow “cookies” for the ourFlinders (Moodle) site. In general, you need to set your browser to “Allow all Cookies”, or have it block cookies except for http://our.finders.vic.edu.auHow you do this depends on which web browser (and what type of device) you use to view ourFlinders.

What do I do if my Email Address Changes?

If you change you email address, you need to contact your campus and tell us what your new email address is. After we have updated our system, you’ll receive an automated confirmation message, usually the next day.
